None of us knows what the future holds, but we do know who holds the future. You can choose to do nothing, but with that decision, you will probably feel overwhelmed and powerless. The world needs a lot of help. Your help. So when the time comes and you make a decision to get involved, experience a sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better.

Volunteering abroad is being empowered to effect positive change.

Think of it as a form of your own personal stewardship. Volunteering is taking some responsibility for the welfare of the world. It is grassroots, local involvement in a community by working towards things like conservation, welfare, education, health care and disaster relief. Your participation in the world promotes human rights, self-determination, dignity … peace.

You can be part of a world-wide movement that sets up wind-power generators in Nepal, places math or English teachers in remote parts of Ghana, develops business plans for women’s co-ops in Guatemala, that protects endangered animals and their habitats in Borneo, or one that builds schools in Thailand.

Volunteering in a Gap Year means taking anywhere from two weeks to up to a year to pursue a volunteer-related dream. It’s a time to re-evaluate your current situation and where you want to go with it. Add meaning and purpose to your life by volunteering. You can do this by talking to us because we’ve done it. We can show you how to go overseas for an extended period of time or how to volunteer abroad just once for the trip of a lifetime.

Volunteering abroad is about renewing your sense of purpose in life. It’s not for everybody … you’ll need to ask yourself some tough questions. We think the personal rewards far outweigh things like culture shock. Whether you are a student, recent graduate or mid-career professional, you can volunteer overseas. You already have relevant skills to share with the world; let a volunteer project help you transform yourself by acquiring the skills you might lack. Go because you can help develop a community and your career, build your resume, possibly gain university credit and see the world.

Return to your school or job revitalized and refreshed and with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world around you. We’ve got the tools; you only need to supply the imagination.

We’re here to help you find the right volunteer project to either match your experience level or help show you a way to develop yourself that you might not have thought of before. We’ll always take into account your professional and personal interests. And we will help you navigate your choices every step of the way.

This is just the start of what we’ll do for you:

  • supply you with a Volunteer Handbook
  • present detailed pre-departure information including customs and etiquette for your destination
  • give you a Fundraising Guide to help you find sponsors
  • provide airport pick-up
  • arrange an in-country coordinator and informative welcome session
  • provide carefully chosen and planned project placements with accommodation and most meals
  • supply you with 1 – 4 weeks of language training, as required
  • 24-hour emergency support

You provide the initiative and cultural curiosity, and volunteering abroad will teach you how to work as a team member and how to adapt to a new life in a very different community.
